This paper attempts to shed some light on the imaginary
Brazil that Argentina has
constructed in its literature. To start, the research
draws a parallel between the
formation of the ego in psychoanalysis and the
construction of national identity.
Furthermore, the work compares the internal views that
built and supported the
discourse of the national Brazilian identity with the
external views of Brazil
expressed by Argentinean writers. The analysis focuses on
the process of
projections and projective identification in the
construction of the Other.
