The dissertation entitled Valorization, Promotion, Multiplication, and
Production of Unconventional Edible Fungi in Agroforestry Systems is justified
in the face of the socio-environmental crisis experienced on a planetary scale,
where it is imperative that society is willing to rethink and transform production
chains, habits, and customs to achieve a more sustainable scenario. This
necessarily involves the need for agriculture that is more coherent with the nature
of ecosystems, favoring essential resources for life instead of consuming them
unrestrictedly. Little known and undervalued in Brazil in general, the kingdom of
fungi has an undervalued productive potential, which can complement the
cultivation of plant species in agroforestry systems, as well as provide the
fundamental ecosystem services rendered by this kingdom. Based on the
observation and study of the function of fungi in forest environments, this study
aims to suggest a cultivation methodology for the intentional insertion of
Unconventional Edible Fungi (UEF) in a productive manner within agroforestry
systems, favoring a cooperative relationship between plants and mushrooms,
increasing the quantity and quality of life and resources on site. The work resulted
in the development of an educational booklet aimed at small and medium-sized
rural producers with the purpose of disseminating the productive method
discussed in this research.
