Resumo:
Digital technologies have been sustaining profound transformations in all human activities. New forms and new means of communication have emerged, among them the podcast, an expanding media that offers many possibilities for education. The general objective of this work is to analyze how podcasts that present themselves as educational are constituted and, as specific objectives: to understand the reason and/or motivation for their creation; categorize their themes and formats; identify who created them and who is their target audience; and, investigate how they become financially viable. The research was based on studies on the interweaving of the media with everyday life, exploring, in particular, the concept of mediatization. It was also based on the field of Critical Studies of Education and Technology, with the indiscriminate use of technologies in education as a concern, so that it is not seen as a panacea for the problems of education. The podosphere was configured as the empirical field of this documentary research, which used free and openly available materials. The characteristics of the two selected podcasts met the three criteria established for the composition of the empirical body: no ties to institutions; produced only in audio format; and alluding to education in their self-descriptions. The findings point to a reformulation of what is thought to be educational by the two main groups of actors in the process, presenters and listeners. The conclusion suggests the need to promote, in the academic field, more debates that critically consider the use of technologies in education, however, without disregarding the educational possibilities provided by the podcast media and by podcasters and their teaching methodologies.
