Resumo:
The main purpose of the research is to analyze the construction of the identities and knowledge of Geography teachers, taking into account their formative trajectories, from the experiences and perspectives acquired at different times, such as the experiences with School Geography, during the Degree course in Geography, in the exercise of teaching and continuing education. Two main concepts were defined for the study, namely: teaching identity and teaching knowledge, which were investigated in the specialized pedagogical and geographic literature. As a strategy for collecting primary data, the elaboration of scripts and conducting semi-structured interviews with Geography professors stand out. The research was based on interviews carried out with Geography professors who were, at the time, licensed for at least five years and were working in different educational networks. Bibliographic research was also carried out in books and periodicals concentrated, above all, in the area of Teacher Education and Geography Teaching. We conclude that the process of building the identity and knowledge of teachers takes place, mainly, with the student s entry into the Degree in Geography. However, this process is composed of countless moments that relate and help each other, taking into account the very reality of the initial training course, the teaching practice, professional daily life, continuing education and also the experiences and experiences acquired during his entire life, even before the student entered graduation. For this reason, Geography as a school subject and its relationship with teaching, in addition to social/professional discredit were essential aspects to be analyzed so that the main objective of this research could be achieved.
