[pt] Este artigo analisa a adaptação de charadas na tradução brasi leira da série infantojuvenil Deltora Quest 1 (2000-2002), de Emily Rodda, à luz dos Estudos da Tradução, com destaque para a Teoria dos Polissistemas (Even-Zohar, 2005), a noção de invisibilidade do tradutor (Venuti, 1995, 2008) e o conceito de transcriação. O cor pus é composto pelos oito volumes da primeira série, traduzidos para o português brasileiro, nos quais as charadas desempenham um papel central na progressão narrativa. A análise evidencia os desafios impostos pela combinação de recursos verbais, poéticos e não verbais, exigindo do tradutor decisões criativas que priorizam a manutenção do efeito enigmático sobre a forma original. Conclui-se que a tradução de Literatura Infantojuvenil (LIJ) de manda elevada competência linguística e cultural, bem como estratégias tradutórias sensíveis ao público-alvo.

[en] This article examines the adaptation of riddles in the Brazilian translation of the children s and young adult series Deltora Quest 1 (2000–2002), by Emily Rodda, within the framework of Translation Studies, with particular emphasis on Polysystem Theory (Even Zohar, 2005), the notion of translator invisibility (Venuti, 1995, 2008), and the concept of transcreation. The corpus compri ses the eight volumes of the first series translated into Brazilian Portuguese, in which riddles play a central role in narrative pro gression. The analysis highlights the challenges posed by the in terplay of verbal, poetic, and nonverbal elements, requiring trans lators to make creative decisions that prioritize the preservation of the riddling effect over formal equivalence with the source text. It is concluded that the translation of children s and young adult li terature demands a high level of linguistic and cultural competen ce, as well as translation strategies that are sensitive to the target audience.
