[pt] Este artigo apresenta uma revisão da literatura sobre os efeitos da
esquizofrenia (SZ) sobre a linguagem humana, com ênfase no papel
da linguística formal na identificação e análise de déficits gramaticais associados ao transtorno. Baseando-se no arcabouço teórico
da Gramática Gerativa, entendemos a linguagem como a habilidade cognitiva responsável pela organização e estruturação do pensamento, e argumentamos em favor da hipótese de que a linguagem
constitui um dos principais domínios afetados pela SZ. Defendemos,
assim, que estudos na interface entre linguagem e psiquiatria têm
potencial de oferecer marcadores confiáveis para a caracterização
e diagnóstico da SZ. Desta perspectiva, apresentamos as principais
contribuições da linguística formal, em interface com outras áreas do
conhecimento, para o estudo e compreensão da SZ.
Resumo
[en] This article presents a review of the literature on the effects of
schizophrenia (SZ) on human language, with an emphasis on the
role of formal linguistics in identifying and analyzing grammatical deficits associated with the disorder. Based on the theoretical framework of Generative Grammar, we understand language
as the cognitive ability responsible for organizing and structuring
thought, and we argue in favor of the hypothesis that language
is one of the main domains affected by SZ. We thus defend that
studies at the interface between language and psychiatry have
the potential to offer reliable markers for the characterization and
diagnosis of SZ. From this perspective, we present the main contributions of formal linguistics, in interface with other areas of knowledge, to the study and understanding of SZ.
