[pt] Este artigo analisa a influência do uso de prótese dentária na qualidade de vida social de pessoas idosas integrantes do Grupo Bem Viver, localizado no município de Cardoso Moreira/RJ. O estudo, de natureza quantiqualitativa e abordagem descritiva, utilizou questionário estruturado aplicado a 48 participantes. Os dados foram sistematizados e interpretados à luz das políticas públicas de saúde bucal e do papel do Serviço Social na promoção da inclusão e do bem-estar da pessoa idosa. Os resultados indicam que o uso de próteses dentárias contribui significativamente para a recuperação da funcionalidade oral, da autoestima e da interação social. Entretanto, observou-se que parte expressiva das pessoas idosas ainda não teve acesso à reabilitação oral, evidenciando desigualdades no alcance das políticas públicas de saúde bucal em nível municipal. O estudo reforça a importância de ampliar o acesso a esses serviços, garantindo a efetivação do direito à saúde como dimensão essencial da cidadania.

[en] This article analyzes the influence of denture use on the social quality of life of elderly people who participate in the Bem Viver Group, located in Cardoso Moreira/ RJ. The study, of a quantitative-qualitative and descriptive nature, used a structured questionnaire applied to 48 participants. Data were organized and interpreted in the light of public oral health policies and the role of Social Work in promoting inclusion and well-being among the elderly. The results show that the use of dental prostheses significantly contributes to the recovery of oral functionality, self-esteem, and social interaction. However, a considerable number of elderly participants have not yet gained access to oral rehabilitation, revealing inequalities in the reach of public oral health policies at the municipal level. The study reinforces the importance of expanding access to these services to ensure the right to health as an essential dimension of citizenship.
