[pt] Esta tese tem como objetivo compreender maneiras pelas quais subjetividades políticas podem ser (trans)formadas na contemporaneidade, a partir da investigação de fandoms de K-pop. A pesquisa tem como ponto de partida o fato de que as plataformas digitais têm ocupado cada vez mais o dia a dia dos usuários que passam horas de seu dia navegando por esses ambientes, controlados por grandes corporações. Além disso, a tese também leva a sério os apegos dos fãs de K-pop em relação ao objeto de fã (grupos e ídolos de K-pop), apego esse que frequentemente estimula os fãs a se organizarem e tornarem-se ativistas porque são fãs. A partir de uma abordagem etnográfica, com pesquisa de campo no TikTok, Tumblr, em eventos presenciais de fãs, e entrevistas conduzidas com fãs brasileiros e estrangeiros, a tese procura entender como as afiliações fãs contribuem para as maneiras pelas quais fãs internacionais (isto é, fora da Coreia do Sul) compreendem política e tomam parte em ação política. A pesquisa se justifica, primeiro, a partir do ativismo cada vez mais visível de fãs de K-pop nas mais diversas plataformas digitais, e também pelo fato de que a linguagem fã tem cada vez mais se infiltrado na comunicação política mainstream. Por último, a pesquisa considera que as filiações fãs podem ser de grande importância para membros de diferentes fandoms, de forma a transformarem a política cotidiana e, portanto, a política internacional.

[en] This dissertation is interested in understanding the ways in which political subjectivities can be (trans)formed in present time, through an investigation on K pop fandoms. The research s starting point is the fact that digital platforms are becoming increasingly more relevant to the everyday lives of users, who spend hours of their days surfing through these environments that are controlled by big corporations. Furthermore, the dissertation takes seriously K-pop fans’ attachment to their fan object (K-pop idols and groups), in such a way that fans are frequently propelled towards organising themselves and becoming activists because they are fans. Through an ethnographical approach, with fieldwork conducted on TikTok, Tumblr, in-person K-pop fan events, and interviews with Brazilian and other foreign fans, the dissertation wants to understand how fan affiliations contribute to the ways international (i.e., not South Korean) fans understand politics and enact political action. The research s relevance is based on, firstly, the fact that K-pop fan activism is increasingly more visible on different social platforms, and also because fannish vocabulary and language has been frequently used, as of late, on mainstream political communication. Lastly, the research considers that fan affiliations can be of great importance for members of these communities, in such a way that transform everyday politics, and through that, even international politics.
