[pt] Os comportamentos defensivos variam conforme a proximidade da ameaça,
oscilando entre o congelamento e a luta defensiva. Este estudo investigou como
ratos das linhagens Carioca de alto (CAC) e de baixo (CBC) congelamento -
desenvolvidas por seleção fenotípica - respondem a uma ameaça social proximal.
Ratos CAC, CBC e do grupo controle (CTR) foram expostos à aplicação de choques
nas patas na presença de um coespecífico. Os comportamentos foram
categorizados como congelamento, luta defensiva e atividade geral. Tanto os
animais das linhagens CAC quanto os CBC apresentaram menor frequência de luta
defensiva em comparação ao grupo controle. No entanto, os ratos CAC exibiram
maior resposta de congelamento, enquanto os CBC demonstraram aumento da
atividade geral. Esses resultados indicam que a seleção baseada no congelamento
contextual gera estratégias distintas de enfrentamento sob ameaça proximal. A
linhagem CAC favorece respostas defensivas passivas, enquanto a linhagem CBC
tende a comportamentos não defensivos, evidenciando a divergência
comportamental resultante da seleção e oferecendo subsídios para modelos
experimentais de ansiedade.
Resumo
[en] Defensive behaviors vary with threat proximity, ranging from defensive freezing to
active fighting. This study examined how selectively bred Carioca high (CHF) and
low (CLF) freezing rats - respond to proximal social threat. CHF, CLF, and control
(CTL) rats were exposed to footshock in the presence of a conspecific. Behaviors
were categorized as freezing, defensive fighting, or general activity. Both CHF and
CLF rats showed reduced defensive fighting compared to CTL animals. However,
CHF rats exhibited more freezing, while CLF rats displayed increased general
activity. These results indicate that selection based on contextual freezing produces
distinct coping strategies under proximal threat. The CHF line favors defensive
responses, while the CLF line shifts toward non-defensive behavior, highlighting the
behavioral divergence resulting from selective breeding and offering insights into
models of anxiety.
