[pt] Esta pesquisa busca compreender o lugar ocupado pelo audiovisual no contexto contemporâneo da educação pública do Rio de Janeiro, a fim de entender as mediações feitas entre alunos e professores, e as mudanças no cenário da reforma do Novo Ensino Médio, realizada em 2022. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa e interdisciplinar, que utilizou diferentes estratégias metodológicas, como oficinas audiovisuais, entrevistas e observação participante em um trabalho de campo realizado com uma turma de Ensino Médio de um Colégio Estadual, localizado na Zona Sul da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Além da parte empírica, o trabalho compreendeu a cultura visual a partir do pensamento de Jonathan Crary, Ben Singer e Muniz Sodré em consonância com a perspectiva crítica de Michel Foucault, Paulo Freire e Marília Franco. O intuito foi perceber a potência das ferramentas audiovisuais como instrumentos de leitura e expressão do mundo social, que tanto podem servir de subsídios aos processos de ensino tradicionais quanto indicar a pluralidade de escrituras que atravessam a construção da cidadania. Neste sentido, observamos que o audiovisual se torna um instrumento de disputa pela atenção do aluno, revelando-se como o desafio para a escola nos tempos atuais. Paulatinamente, também se evidenciou como uma ferramenta potente para a organização de atividades e construção e expressão de subjetividades.

[en] This research seeks to understand the role occupied by audiovisual media in the contemporary context of public education in Rio de Janeiro, focusing on the mediations established between students and teachers, as well as the changes brought about by the 2022 reform of the New High School curriculum. It is a qualitative and interdisciplinary study that employed diverse methodological strategies during fieldwork conducted with a high school class at a state school located in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. In addition to the empirical component, the research draws on visual culture through the perspectives of Jonathan Crary, Ben Singer, and Muniz Sodré, in dialogue with the critical frameworks of Michel Foucault, Paulo Freire, and Marília Franco. The aim is to understand the potential of audiovisual tools as instruments for reading and expressing the social world, which can both support traditional teaching processes and point to the plurality of narratives that shape citizenship. In this sense, the audiovisual emerges as a key element in the dispute for students attention, representing one of the major challenges faced by schools today. At the same time, it gradually reveals itself as a powerful tool for organizing activities and constructing and expressing subjectivities.
