Resumo
[pt] Esta pesquisa busca analisar de que modo o espaço digital contribui para o
processo de internacionalização da extrema direita global. Tal premissa será
explorada a partir da Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC),
conferência atualmente associada à extrema direita que passou por um processo de
expansão tanto internacional (a partir da implementação de edições transnacionais)
quanto digital. A presença indissociável do espaço digital na formação de novos
fenômenos políticos da contemporaneidade denota a importância de compreender
seu papel para uma conferência que se demonstra com alto poder de patrocínio e
financiamento. Através de uma análise desta dupla expansão, associado ao discurso
de cunho anti-globalista da extrema direita, argumenta-se que o espaço digital, ao
ser associado com múltiplos componentes e instituições que formam a CPAC,
constroem uma articulação de (in)segurança que incentiva a circulação do discurso
de (in)segurança da extrema direita contemporânea.
Resumo
[en] This dissertation seeks to address the importance of digital spatialities to global far right s process of internationalization. This proposal will be further developed through the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). Although CPAC s origins from a deep historical process of conservative and Republican coalitions in the United States, the conference is currently mostly associated to the far right spectrum. Recently, the conference went on an expansion process through two main categories: its internationalization by executing transnational CPAC editions across the globe, and in the digital space (mainly through their website and also engaging on social media platforms). The indivisible presence of digital spatialities in shaping new politics of contemporary society denotes the importance of understanding its role for a conference that demonstrates high sponsorship and funding potential. This research aims to analyze the dual expansion of CPAC, associated with the anti globalist discourse of the far right in order to identify far right’s main characteristics, it will be argued that digital space, when associated with the multiple artefacts and institutions that constitute CPAC, constructs an articulation of (in)security that encourages the circulation of the (in)security discourse of the contemporary global far right.
