[pt] A busca por ações efetivas que possam frear a emergência climática e garantir que o planeta continue habitável é uma necessidade urgente. Os modos de vida indígenas, profundamente integrados aos biomas e ecossistemas, desempenham um papel fundamental na proteção de rios, mares, florestas e outras formas de vida, contribuindo para o equilíbrio climático da Terra. Nesse contexto, a luta por protagonismo, territórios, direitos humanos, saúde e educação dos povos indígenas se entrelaça com a urgência de uma governança climática que inclua suas vozes nas decisões nacionais e internacionais sobre mudanças climáticas. Focalizando uma reflexão sobre a importância dos povos indígenas na construção de soluções para a crise climática global, reconhecendo seus saberes e práticas tradicionais como essenciais para a preservação ambiental, este artigo propõe uma análise crítica da relação entre os saberes indígenas e as políticas climáticas, sugerindo que a integração desses conhecimentos no debate ambiental é crucial para descolonizar as discussões sobre o clima. Isso implica em uma mudança epistemológica, onde os povos indígenas são reconhecidos como atores centrais legítimos e ativos nas negociações globais, com direitos de participação e de redistribuição justa dos benefícios e ônus ambientais. A proposta também enfatiza a necessidade de uma ação intersetorial, que envolva uma colaboração mais efetiva entre governos, organizações indígenas e a sociedade civil, buscando uma governança climática inclusiva e equitativa. O trabalho visa, portanto, fortalecer a representatividade indígena na agenda climática global, promovendo um modelo de desenvolvimento sustentável e justo, que assegure a sobrevivência de todos os povos no planeta.

[en] The search for effective actions to halt the climate emergency and ensure that the planet remains habitable is an urgent necessity. Indigenous ways of life, deeply integrated with biomes and ecosystems, play a crucial role in protecting rivers, seas, forests, and other forms of life, thereby contributing to the Earth s climate balance. In this context, the struggle for protagonism, territories, human rights, health, and education for Indigenous peoples is closely intertwined with the urgency of climate governance that includes their voices in national and international decisions on climate change. Focusing on the importance of Indigenous peoples in developing solutions to the global climate crisis, and recognizing their knowledge and traditional practices as essential for environmental preservation, this paper offers a critical analysis of the relationship between Indigenous knowledge and climate policies. It argues that integrating this knowledge into environmental discourse is crucial for decolonizing climate discussions. This requires an epistemological shift, in which Indigenous peoples are recognized as legitimate, central, and active participants in global negotiations, with rights to participate and a fair redistribution of environmental benefits and burdens. The proposal also emphasizes the need for intersectoral action, promoting more effective collaboration between governments, Indigenous organizations, and civil society, in order to achieve inclusive and equitable climate governance. Ultimately, the work aims to strengthen Indigenous representation in the global climate agenda, fostering a sustainable and just development model that ensures the survival of all peoples on the planet
