[pt] Comunicação que aborda o significado de pertencimento do Padre Ávila à Companhia de Jesus, mostrando o impacto
desse lugar para seu pensamento intelectual e político. Também é abordada sua relação umbilical com a PUC-Rio e,
mais especificamente, com o Departamento de Ciências Sociais. Ao longo do texto, são apresentados também trechos
inéditos, encontrados em arquivos da Companhia de Jesus, com depoimentos do homenageado.
Resumo
[en] This presentation explores the significance of Father Ávila s belonging to the Society of Jesus, highlighting the impact this affiliation had on his intellectual and political thought. It also examines his deep-rooted connection with PUC-Rio and, more specifically, with the Department of Social Sciences. Throughout the paper, previously unpublished excerpts from the archives of the Society of Jesus are also presented, including testimonies from Father Ávila himself.
