[pt] O tratamento adequado dos efluentes pode contribuir para o desenvolvimento sustentável. Sabe-se que estes são um problema quando seu descarte se dá sem qualquer cuidado. Assim, o objetivo desta pesquisa é o de se analisar as produções científicas dos últimos 10 anos no intuito de se compreender de que forma a geração de energia elétrica a partir da Estações de Tratamento de Esgoto se constitui em uma prática de desenvolvimento sustentável. Desta forma, pensa-se, pode-se contribuir para a produção de um grupo de dados que sirva para inspirar soluções para o problema do descarte dos efluentes, que passam pela ideia da geração de energia elétrica como contrapartida. Para tanto, esta pesquisa seguiu a metodologia de abordagem qualitativa. Além disso, do ponto de vista operacional, decidiu-se pela revisão bibliográfica, contemplando-se os estudos que versam acerca desta temática produzidos entre os anos de 2013 e 2023. Os resultados apontam para o fato de que a geração de energia a partir de Estações de Tratamento de Esgoto é viável em todos os estudos verificados e pode contribuir significativamente para o desenvolvimento econômico e social de regiões vulneráveis como os Complexos do Alemão e da Maré, além de ser uma alternativa de desenvolvimento sustentável.

[en] The proper treatment of effluents can contribute to sustainable development. It is known that they become a problem when they are discarded without any care. Thus, the objective of this research is to analyze the scientific productions of the last 10 years in order to understand how the generation of electricity from Sewage Treatment Plants constitutes a practice of sustainable development. In this way, it is believed that it can contribute to the production of a dataset that can inspire solutions to the problem of effluent disposal, which includes the idea of generating electricity as a counterpart. To achieve this, this research followed a qualitative approach methodology. Furthermore, from an operational point of view, it was decided to conduct a literature review, considering studies on this theme produced between the years 2023 and 2023. The results indicate that the generation of energy from Sewage Treatment Plants is viable in all the studies analyzed and can significantly contribute to the economic and social development of vulnerable regions such as the Complexes of Alemão and Maré, in addition to being an alternative for sustainable development.
