[pt] O presente artigo tem como objetivo fazer uma retrospectiva histórica, conceitual e social sobre a scanlation, especialmente no Brasil. No que diz respeito a metodologia de pesquisa, foi realizada uma análise bibliográfica a partir de artigos científicos sobre a temática, sites agregadores de scanlantion, redes sociais, além da experiência prática de uma das pesquisadoras dessa pesquisa. Por fim, este estudo destaca a scanlation como uma prática que democratiza o acesso a obras de diversas culturas, além de reafirmar a tradução como uma ponte essencial para sua valorização e alcance global.

[en] This paper aims to provide a historical, conceptual, and social overview of scanlation, with a particular focus on its development in Brazil. The research methodology involved a bibliographic analysis of scientific articles on the subject, an examination of scanlation aggregator websites and social media, as well as insights from the practical experience of one of the researchers. Ultimately, this study highlights scanlation as a practice that democratizes access to works from diverse cultures while reaffirming translation as an essential bridge for their recognition and global reach.
