[pt] A sociolinguística estuda variações linguísticas há tempos; Preti, Fawcett,
Murphy e Verdolini trataram da questão na literatura e tradução literária.
Selecionou-se Maus, A Survivor s Tale, de Art Spiegelman, e sua tradução
para o português, de Antonio Soares, para analisar o idioleto do personagem
polonês Vladek, visando comparar recursos linguísticos empregados pelo
autor e tradutor para caracterizar seu broken English. Usamos o modelo de
análise de Lambert e Van Gorp e os procedimentos técnicos da tradução de
Barbosa. O tradutor desenvolveu uma linguagem própria do personagem
com recursos diferentes dos do autor.
Resumo
[en] Language variations are studied by Sociolinguistics for long; Preti, Fawcett,
Murphy, and Verdolini handled the theme in literature and literary
translation. Art Spiegelman s work Maus, A Survivor s Tale, and Antonio
Soares s translation into Brazilian Portuguese were chosen to comparatively
analyze the linguistic resources used by them to distinguish the broken
English idiolect of the Polish character Vladek. Lambert and Van Gorp s
scheme for translation description, and Barbosa s technical translation
procedures were used. The translator developed a marked Brazilian
Portuguese language for the character, using other linguistic resources than
the author.
