[pt] Mais do que caracterizar o discurso argumentativo, este artigo tem como propósito apresentar, de modo sucinto, a tese de que o discurso argumentativo participa efetivamente da construção do conhecimento do homem, podendo consistir em importante recurso didático. Essa tese encontra apoio nas proposições e conceitos da Psicologia Social Genética, perspectiva considerada como interacionista e construtivista, fundada por Doise, Gabriel Mugny e Anne- Nely Perret-Clermont, e ainda pouco conhecida no Brasil.

[en] More than characterizing argumentative discourse, this paper sets out to present, in a succinct way, the thesis on how argumentative discourse effectively takes part in the construction of human knowledge and how this may well go on to form an important didactic resource. This thesis finds support in the propositions and concepts of Social Genetic Psychology, a perspective considered as interactional and constructivist, and founded by Doise, Gabriel Mugny and Anne-Nely Perret-Clermont, and still hardly known in Brazil.
