[pt] Esta tese investiga quanto o papel da confiança empresarial (CE) influencia nos efeitos que as barreiras à inovação (BI) exercem sobre a integração de empresas em ecossistemas de negócios (IEN), bem como analisa em que medida essa integração, associada à adoção de Inteligência Artificial (AIA), impacta a inovação em modelos de negócios sustentáveis (IMNS). O estudo analisa, especificamente, em que medida a CE - mensurados a partir do Índice de Confiança do Empresário Industrial (ICEI), aferido pela CNI em maio de 2023 - influencia as relações de causa e efeito, seja na análise de como a IEN impacta o desempenho da IMNS e se a AIA media essa relação, seja na análise de como as BI variam seus efeitos sobre a IEN, AIA, e IMNS conforme os diferentes níveis de CE. Com uma amostra de 302 empresas do setor industrial de manufatura do Brasil, a coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de uma survey aplicada em maio de 2023, focando em práticasde IMNS, com questionários direcionados aos líderes e executivos de nível C estratégicos dessas empresas. Os resultados revelam efeitos diferenciados entre contextos de alta e baixa confiança, oferecendo evidências empíricas originais e valiosas estrategicamente sobre o papel sistêmico da confiança empresarial. Em especial, como mecanismo mitigador de BI, fortalecedor da integração de empresas em ecossistemas de negócios, impulsionador da adoção da IA, e propulsor do desempenho da IMNS. Assim, a tese contribui para o avanço teórico e gerencial nas discussões sobre confiança, ecossistemas, modelos de negócios, inovação e sustentabilidade.

[en] This thesis investigates how the role of business trust (CE) influences the effects that barriers to innovation (BI) have on the integration of companies into business ecosystems (IEN), as well as analyzing to what extent this integration, associated with the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AIA), impacts innovation in sustainable business models (IMNS). The study specifically analyzes to what extent CE - measured from the Industrial Business Trust Index (ICEI), measured by the CNI in May 2023 - influences cause and effect relationships, whether in the analysis of how IEN impacts the performance of IMNS and whether AIA mediates this relationship, or in the analysis of how BI varies its effects on IEN, AIA, and IMNS according to the different levels of CE. With a sample of 302 companies from the Brazilian manufacturing sector, data collection was carried out through a survey applied in May 2023, focusing on IMNS practices, with questionnaires directed to the leaders and strategic C-level executives of these companies. The results reveal differentiated effects between high- and low-trust contexts, offering and strategically valuable empirical evidence on the systemic role of business trust, especially as a mitigating mechanism for BI, strengthening the integration of companies into business ecosystems, driving AI adoption, and driving IMNS performance. Thus, the thesis contributes to the theoretical and managerial advancement in discussions on trust, ecosystems, business models, innovation, and sustainability.
