[pt] A Cultura do Cancelamento é apresentada como um fenômeno presente nas interações sociais e digitais da modernidade tardia. O cancelamento acontece depois de ações ou afirmações que são consideradas inadequadas pelo público, ocasionando em sanções para aqueles que se encontram no centro da discussão. Neste processo, estão em jogo práticas sociais, tais como avaliação de posturas, rotulação, vigilância, julgamento, entre outras. Este trabalho tem por objetivo compreender como se dão os encontros e as relações sociais diante da perspectiva interacionista, e como os fenômenos sociais estão ligados à regulação do outro, se concentrando na tentativa de responder se o cancelamento é um fenômeno social, de fato, novo ou não. A metodologia adotada é a combinação dos métodos de revisão bibliográfica e estudos de caso. Serão analisados os casos dos ataques à influenciadora Gkay e do cantor Wilson Simonal. Foram compilados materiais jornalísticos e documentais em que as duas personalidades eram mencionadas, a fim de reconstruir a trajetória dos episódios. Além disso, em especial no caso de Gkay, foi possível a análise de métricas de publicações e buscas envolvendo seu nome. Apesar da época e do contexto no qual Simonal está inserido não haver o ambiente digital - a internet como conhecemos -, o estudo de seu episódio é fundamental para a construção da proposta desta pesquisa, que busca construir um terreno fértil de análise do comportamento social diante dos eventos nos quais ambos estão inseridos para concluir que a prática do cancelamento é algo que não começou por agora, sendo assim uma releitura de práticas sociais já existentes. Para isso, esta dissertação é embasada em teorias interdisciplinares, como as de Émile Durkheim, Erving Goffman, Michel Foucault e Howard Becker, e estudos das possíveis novas configurações da sociedade a partir da tecnologia.

[en] The Culture of Cancelling is presented as a phenomenon present in social and digital interactions in late modernity. Cancelling occurs after actions or statements that are considered inappropriate by the public, resulting in sanctions for those at the center of the discussion. In this process, social practices such as evaluating stances, labeling, surveillance, and judgment are at play, among others. This work aims to understand how social encounters and relationships unfold from an interactionist perspective, and how social phenomena are linked to the regulation of others, focusing on whether cancelling is truly a new social phenomenon or not. The methodology adopted combines bibliographic review and case studies. The cases of attacks on influencer Gkay and singer Wilson Simonal will be analyzed. Journalistic and documentary materials mentioning these two personalities were compiled in order to reconstruct the trajectory of the events. Additionally, especially in the case of Gkay, it was possible to analyze metrics of posts and searches involving her name. Although the time and context in which Simonal is inserted did not have the digital environment - the internet as we know today - the study of his case is essential for building the framework of this research, which seeks to create a fertile ground for analyzing social behavior in relation to the events both are involved in, concluding that the practice of cancelling is not something that started now, but rather a reinterpretation of already existing social practices. To this end, this dissertation is based on interdisciplinary theories, such as those of Émile Durkheim, Erving Goffman, Michel Foucault, and Howard Becker, as well as studies on the possible new configurations of society arising from technology.
