[pt] A devoção mariana está presente na Igreja desde os tempos apostólicos. Os escritos neotestamentários, como os evangelhos e a carta paulina aos Gálatas, já falavam da Virgem Maria, a Mãe do Senhor. Os Padres da Igreja, em suas pregações, também destacavam a importância e singularidade da Virgem na história da salvação. O Magistério da Igreja, por sua vez, transmitiu o que a Igreja professa sobre Maria, que está intimamente ligada às verdades de fé relacionadas a Cristo e à Trindade. Sendo criatura, foi escolhida para ser a mãe do Redentor. Com o seu sim, ela acolheu livremente o Verbo de Deus em seu ser, deixando claro que sempre quis fazer a vontade do Senhor, mesmo não a compreendendo. Modelo de serviço e fidelidade aos planos de Deus, ela nos acompanha como mãe peregrina, que não nos desampara. Na liturgia, nos diversos tempos litúrgicos, encontramos solenidades, memórias e festas em honra à Virgem Maria. Ela também é mencionada na Oração Eucarística, o que nos faz recordar sempre a sua íntima união ao mistério salvífico de seu Filho. As devoções marianas, como o Rosário e o Ofício da Imaculada Conceição, são celebradas e difundidas por diversos movimentos eclesiásticos, de modo que a Igreja manifesta seu amor para com a mãe do Senhor.

[en] Marian devotion has been present in the Church since apostolic times. The New Testament writings, such as the Gospels and the Pauline letters, already spoke of the Virgin Mary, the Mother of the Lord. The Fathers of the Church, in their sermons, also highlighted the importance and uniqueness of the Virgin in the history of salvation. The Magisterium of the Church, in turn, transmitted what the Church professes about Mary, which is closely linked to the truths of faith related to Christ and the Trinity. Being a creature, she was chosen to be the mother of the Redeemer. With her yes, she freely welcomed the Word of God into her being, making it clear that she always wanted to do the Lord s will, even if she did not understand it. A model of service and fidelity to God s plans, she accompanies us as a pilgrim mother who does not abandon us. In the liturgy, in the various liturgical seasons, we find solemnities, memorials and feasts in honor of the Virgin Mary. She is also mentioned in the Eucharistic Prayer, which reminds us always of her intimate union with the salvific mystery of her Son. Marian devotions, such as the Rosary and the Office of the Immaculate Conception, are celebrated and spread by various ecclesiastical movements, in such a way that the Church manifests her love for the Mother of the Lord.
