[pt] O presente artigo parte da análise das trajetórias de agentes identificados com a corrente renovadora do Partido Comunista Brasileiro (PCB), formada em fins da década de 1970 e início de 1980, por um conjunto de militantes que eram identificados, entre outros elementos, pelo prestígio intelectual, pela busca por renovação do marxismo e pela defesa da democracia como um valor universal. Entre esses agentes, aqueles que obtiveram maior prestígio e reconhecimento foram os que deixaram de ser intelectuais partidários e tornaram-se intelectuais universitários, o que foi feito mediante a existência de uma série de tensões por conta da convivência deles com o padrão de excelência intelectual que se impunha à época, fortemente calcado no modelo estadunidense de ciência. Destaca-se, assim, a posição ocupada por esses agentes em meio ao espaço universitário, o modo como os próprios encararam a atuação nesse espaço e o caráter geral de suas obras, comparando-os com as elites que se afirmaram nesse mesmo período.

[en] This present study aimed to analyze the trajectories of agents identified with the renewal current of the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB), formed in the late 1970s and early 1980s by a group of militants who were identified, among other elements, by intellectual prestige, the search for renewal of Marxism and the defense of democracy as a universal value. Among these agents, those who obtained greater prestige and recognition were those who stopped being partisan intellectuals and became university intellectuals, which was done through the existence of a series of tensions due to their coexistence with the standard of intellectual excellence that was imposed at the time, strongly based on the North American model of science. Therefore, the position occupied by these agents in the university space stands out, as well as the way in which they viewed their activities in this space and the general nature of their works, comparing them with the intelectual elites of this same period.
