[pt] Os textos Bíblicos não são alheios à realidade da doença e da morte. Existe uma sensibilidade divina diante do sofrimento humano. O Livro da Sabedoria descreve três categorias de justo: as que morrem no sofrimento (3,1-9), a mulher estéril ou o eunuco fiel (3,11-15; 4,1-2) e o justo que morre na flor da idade (4,7-14a). Estes, segundo a obra, não conheceram a felicidade na terra, mas receberão a recompensa na visita de Deus (4,14b-20). A narrativa da cura do filho do funcionário real (Jo 4,46-54) entra na perspectiva de alguém prestes a morrer na flor da idade. Assim, ela nos coloca diante de um pai que deseja salvar a vida de seu filho que se encontra diante da eminência da morte. Aqui, busca-se compreender o segundo sinal operado por Jesus no Quarto Evangelho, ou seja, entender como que a fé de um pai em Jesus Cristo salvou a vida do seu filho.

[en] Biblical texts are not oblivious to the reality of illness and death. There is a divine sensitivity to human suffering. The Book of Wisdom describes three categories of righteous people: those who die in suffering (3,1-9), the barren woman or the faithful eunuch (3,11-15; 4,1-2) and the righteous man who dies in the prime of life (4,7-14a). These, according to the work, did not know happiness on earth, but will receive the reward in God s visit (4,14b-20). The narrative of the Healing of the Royal Official s Son (John 4:46-54) comes from the perspective of someone about to die in the prime of life. Thus, it places us before a father who wants to save the life of his son who finds himself on the verge of death. Here, we will seek to understand the second sign operated by Jesus in the Fourth Gospel, that is, to understand how a father s faith in Jesus Christ saved his son s life.
