[pt] O objetivo desse artigo é revelar como Judith Butler começa a pensar a categoria do humano a partir dos limites representacionais produzidos pelo contexto histórico e político de guerra, analisado em Vida Precária (2004). Ao mostrar como Butler compreende o processo de formação do sujeito a partir da vulnerabilidade, precariedade e interdependência, revela-se um deslocamento de suas primeiras questões ontológicas sobre gênero, sexo e sexualidade em direção a uma ética que tem como ponto de partida a vulnerabilidade da vida humana. Para tanto, exploraremos sua articulação do sujeito “fora de si” com o conceito levinasiano de “rosto”, isto é, de uma alteridade que desloca o sentido soberano e autônomo do sujeito moderno em direção à apreensão de uma vulnerabilidade comum, que rompe essa ideia unívoca de sujeito e produz novos sentidos para se pensar uma ética não-violenta e responsável. É dessa forma que a autora consegue denunciar como o enquadramento, ou apagamento, de figuras da guerra pela mídia cria a própria realidade do que pode ser considerado humano e do que não pode, em suas palavras, de corpos dignos de serem enlutados e de corpos indignos de luto.

[en] The aim of this paper is to examine how Judith Butler begins to think about the category of the human based on the representational limits produced by the historical and political context of war, as discussed in Precarious Life (2004). By demonstrating Butler s perspective on subject formation based on vulnerability, precariousness and interdependence, a shift is observed from her initial ontological inquiries about gender, sex, and sexuality towards an ethical framework rooted in the vulnerability of human life. In doing so, we will analyze her portrayal of the subject as "besides oneself," drawing on the Levinasian notion of the "face" as an alterity that displaces the sovereign and autonomous sense of the modern subject toward an understanding of shared vulnerability, challenging the univocal conception of the subject and fostering new ways of contemplating non-violent and accountable ethics. This is how the author critiques the media s construction or omission of war narratives, shaping the very definition of what is considered human and what is not, particularly in delineating whose bodies are deemed worthy of mourning and those that are not.
