[pt] A mente é um dos objetos mais familiares e próximos que temos, mas, ao mesmo tempo, um dos mais misteriosos. Neste contexto, existem diversas teorias filosóficas sobre a mente que buscam compreendê-la, especialmente em seu aspecto metafísico, ou seja, a natureza da mentalidade. Entre essas teorias, destaca-se o funcionalismo, o qual defende que um estado mental é, em última análise, um estado funcional. Este estado pode ser compreendido como uma rede complexa de relações causais entre estímulos (inputs), estados mentais e saídas (outputs). Apesar de o funcionalismo já ter sido uma teoria popular no meio filosófico, a forma como ele aborda os estados mentais suscitou algumas críticas. Entre as objeções ao funcionalismo, destacam-se aquelas relacionadas aos qualia ausentes e invertidos. Qualia é um termo técnico em filosofia da mente que se refere à experiência subjetiva, qualitativa e fenomênica que vivenciamos. Em outras palavras, as críticas dos qualia ausentes e invertidos concentram-se em apontar a suposta fragilidade da teoria funcionalista em acomodar os qualia na sua metafísica. Portanto, o presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar em detalhes as críticas relacionadas aos qualia ausentes e invertidos à teoria funcionalista e explorar a possibilidade de a referida teoria superá-las.

[en] The mind is one of the most familiar and closest objects that we have, yet at the same time, one of the most mysterious. In this context, some philosophical theories try to understand the mind, especially their metaphysical aspect, that is, the mind s nature. Between these theories, there is functionalism, which defends that a mental state is a functional state. This state could be understood as a complex network of inputs, mental states, and outputs. Although functionalism has already been popular in philosophical circles, the way he approaches mental states has raised some criticism. Among the objections to functionalism, those related to absent and inverted qualia stand out. Qualia is a technical term in the philosophy of mind that refers to the subjective, qualitative, and phenomenal experience that we undergo. In other words, criticisms of absent and inverted qualia focus on pointing out the supposed weakness of functionalist theory in accommodating qualia in its metaphysics. Therefore, this article aims to analyze in detail the criticisms related to absent and inverted qualia towards the functionalist theory and explore the possibility of overcoming them.
