Resumo
[en] Through examples of activities, this paper aims to demonstrate how internet memes
can function as tools for interdisciplinary work focused on reading images that deal with
contents from various disciplines studied in the secondary school classroom. In addition,
this research reflects on the educational potential that memes present to new forms of
literacy, especially critical visual literacy, considering memes strong presence in the
digital age s visual culture. Finally, this paper aims to present the history of the term
meme created by Dawkins (1976) and explain how it has evolved into the internet
meme genre.
