[pt] A pergunta sobre o fim último da existência humana sempre motivou a reflexão filosófica e teológica. A razão natural poderia chegar à conclusão de que Deus nos cria para manifestar sua glória e comunicar a sua perfeição, mas somente por meio da razão iluminada pela fé é que podemos compreender que o ser humano é chamado à uma ordem sobrenatural. Sendo assim, ele é destinado em Cristo, por obra do Espírito Santo, a entrar na comunhão eterna com Deus, que comumente chamamos de santidade. Esta vocação de todos à bem-aventurança eterna tem sido objeto de anúncio desde o texto bíblico, perpassando toda a história depois de Cristo. Há 60 anos esse anúncio ressoou mais uma vez no texto da Constituição Dogmática Lumen gentium do Concílio Vaticano II. Por ocasião do aniversário de sua promulgação, nos propusemos a refletir sobre a vocação universal à santidade, considerando o papel da Teologia Moral na concretização deste chamado. Desejamos demonstrar os fundamentos desta vocação, a partir do texto conciliar, e afirmar como a moral católica está a serviço da santificação do homem de hoje.

[en] The question about the ultimate end of human existence has always motivated philosophical and theological reflection. Natural reason could reach the conclusion that God creates us to manifest his glory and communicate his perfection, but only through reason illuminated by faith can we understand that human beings are called to a supernatural order. Therefore, he is destined in Christ, by the work of the Holy Spirit, to enter into eternal communion with God, which we commonly call holiness. This vocation of everyone to eternal blessedness has been announced since the biblical text, throughout history after Christ. 60 years ago, this announcement has resounded once again in the text of the Dogmatic Constitution Lumen gentium of the Second Vatican Council. On the occasion of the anniversary of its promulgation, we set out to reflect on the universal vocation to holiness, considering the role of moral theology in realizing this call. We wish to demonstrate the foundations of this vocation, based on the conciliar text, and how Catholic morality is at the service of the sanctification of today s man.
