[pt] A atividade de catação dos materiais recicláveis e reutilizáveis, em muitos casos,
ocorre em condições precárias de trabalho no contexto histórico-social do modelo
capitalista. Este estudo tem como objetivo identificar os riscos à saúde decorrentes
da atividade e ambiente laboral em uma cooperativa de reciclagem na cidade
de Salvador/BA, utilizando, para tal, a técnica de observação participante. Entre os
resultados, foram levantados os riscos ocupacionais e fatores psicossociais relacionados
ao ambiente trabalho, incluindo indícios de preconceito e estigmatização relacionadas
às atividades dos catadores de materiais recicláveis, configurando riscos
à saúde física e mental dos trabalhadores.
Resumo
[en] The activity of collecting recyclable and reusable materials, in many cases, takes place under precarious working conditions in the historical-social context of the capitalist model. This study aims to identify the health risks arising from the activity and work environment in a recycling cooperative located in the city of Salvador/BA, using, for this purpose, the participant observation technique. Among the results, occupational risks and psychosocial factors related to the work environment were raised, including signs of prejudice and stigmatization related to the activities of recyclable waste collectors, posing risks to the physical and mental health of workers.
