[pt] Este trabalho pretende analisar algumas das diferentes maneiras de o brasileiro expressar posicionamentos negativos, valendo-se de estratégias na tentativa de manter preservada a face dos interlocutores. Para tal, a pesquisa se vale de uma análise qualitativa-interpretativa, baseada em dez crônicas escritas por Luis Fernando Verissimo e publicadas a partir da década de 1970. Do corpus selecionado, são destacados onze diferentes modos de o brasileiro exprimir um posicionamento negativo de forma indireta. As situações apresentadas evidenciam que normalmente o brasileiro, por estar inserido numa cultura de alto contexto e que evita o embate, utiliza-se de diferentes recursos, entre eles a linguagem corporal e a mensagem subentendida, como ferramentas de comunicação. A partir da descrição e da categorização de diferentes formas de negação, o trabalho pretende auxiliar na reflexão por parte do professor de Português como Segunda Língua para Estrangeiros em relação à importância de se tratar sobre o tema com os alunos de PL2E, visto que, para que se possa comunicar sem ruídos em português brasileiro, faz-se fundamental que o estudante perceba as diferentes roupagens que a negação pode apresentar no idioma.

[en] This work analyzes some of the different ways in which Brazilians express negative positions, using strategies to keep the face of interlocutors. To this end, this research employs a qualitative-interpretative analysis of ten short stories published by Luis Fernando Verissimo from the 1970s onwards. Eleven different ways in which Brazilians indirectly express a negative position are highlighted from the selected corpus. These highlighted situations indicate how Brazilians navigate their high context culture that has a preference towards avoiding direct confrontation using resources such as body language and implied messages as communication tools. Based on the description and categorization of different forms of negation, the paper aims to help Portuguese as a Second Language teachers reflect on the importance of dealing with the subject with their PSL students since, in order to communicate smoothly in Brazilian Portuguese, it is essential that students understand the different guises that negation can take in the language.
