[pt] Tendo em vista a tradução de literatura latina antiga nos dias de hoje, este
trabalho problematiza dois modelos teóricos: a tradução da letra (BERMAN
(2008 [1991]), e a adaptação global (BASTIN, 1998). Em seguida, apresenta e
discute amostras de duas propostas distintas para a tradução da tragédia
Hercules furens de Sêneca: a primeira delas a partir do modelo literalista e a
segunda propondo-se como adaptação. Suas contribuições se resumem à
defesa de uma relativização do modelo literalista tendo em vista a tradução
de literatura latina antiga e, neste contexto, à defesa da adaptação como
solução alternativa para as limitações estéticas da tradução literalista.
Resumo
[en] Bearing in mind the translation of ancient Latin literature today, this paper
problematizes two theoretical models: the translation of the letter (Berman,
2008 [1991]) and the global adaptation (Bastin, 1998). Right away, it discusses
samples of two different proposals for the translation of Seneca s tragedy
Hercules furens: the first of them following the literalist model and the
second proposing itself as an adaptation. Its contributions can be
summarized in two points: the defense of a relativized literalist model in
view of ancient Latin literature translation and, in this context, the defense
of adaptation as an alternative solution to the aesthetic limitations of literalist
translation.
