[pt] Os jardins terapêuticos são definidos como espaços verdes projetados para promover e melhorar a saúde e o bem-estar das pessoas portadoras de alguma enfermidade. Eles têm sido implementados em diversos países pelo mundo. Os benefícios promovidos por esses espaços projetados pelo paisagismo são evidenciados em diferentes estudos científicos, sobretudo quando aplicados em instituições de saúde no suporte ao tratamento de pacientes com diferentes tipos de enfermidade e limitações. Apesar dos benefícios para o bem-estar humano o potencial brasileiro para utilização de jardins terapêuticos tem sido pouco explorado. Este trabalho propõe sistematizar os benefícios dos jardins terapêuticos para saúde e bem-estar humano. Além disso, este estudo propõe reunir e sugerir recomendações para implementação de jardins terapêuticos em instituições de saúde. Para elaboração do estudo foi realizado levantamento bibliográfico sobre os benefícios dos jardins terapêuticos e recomendações para implementação. Foram também realizadas entrevistas com especialistas em conservação ou em saúde humana para suporte aos dados levantados na revisão bibliográfica. Os jardins terapêuticos constituem uma ferramenta potencial para promover a conservação de ecossistemas e bem-estar humano. Para que seja eficiente no suporte ao tratamento de doentes em instituições de saúde é fundamental que os jardins sejam projetados com foco no público-alvo, respeitando as recomendações universais do design para que sejam acessíveis e seguros para seus usuários. As recomendações reunidas neste trabalho podem orientar a implementação de jardins terapêuticos em diferentes contextos, estimulando a propagação desta ferramenta no âmbito brasileiro.

[en] Therapeutic gardens are defined as green spaces projected to improve health and promote well-being in people with diseases. They have been implemented in several countries around the world. The benefits of designed therapeutic gardens are shown in different scientific studies and reported by health institutions in supporting the treatment of patients with different types of illnesses. Despite the benefits for human well-being, the potential for the use of therapeutic gardens in Brazil has been little explored. Based on a literature review and interviews, this work systematizes the benefits of therapeutic gardens for human well-being and proposes recommendations for implementing therapeutic gardens in health institutions. Therapeutic gardens represent a potential tool to promote a range of benefits for human well-being and environmental protection. However, to maximise these benefits for the treatment of patients in health institutions, gardens must be designed with a focus on the target audience, respecting design recommendations so that they are accessible and safe for their users. The recommendations gathered in this work can guide the implementation of therapeutic gardens in different contexts, stimulating the propagation of this tool in the Brazilian context. Therapeutic gardens represent a tool aligned with the sustainability agenda, generating a range of ecosystem services.
