[pt] O texto foca na qualidade de interpretação na área da língua de sinais e mudanças para alcançarmos a melhoria almejada nessa qualidade. Depois de uma revisão de estudos importantes sobre a qualidade da interpretação, analisa normas e expectativas, relacionadas aos códigos de ética da profissão. Apresenta a questão da identidade e autopercepção dos intérpretes e chega à formação de intérpretes, para a qual todos esses aspectos confluem para promover o aprimoramento da qualidade e maior satisfação tanto dos usuários de serviços de interpretação quanto dos profissionais que os oferecem.

[en] This paper focuses on sign language interpreting quality and the necessary paradigm changes to achieve the desired improvement in quality. After a review of important studies on interpreting quality, it analyses norms and expectations related to the codes of professional ethics. It also addresses interpreter identity and self-perception, and highlights the field of interpreter training, which ultimately aims at promoting improvements in interpreting quality and greater satisfaction both of users of interpretation services and of the professionals who provide these services.
