[pt] O artigo investiga o conceito de meditação, tal como aparece no
Diário da jovem judia holandesa Etty Hillesum (1914-1943), no dia 8 de
junho de 1941. Para isso, nosso texto se divide em três partes. Na primeira,
apresentamos algumas notas biográfi cas sobre Etty. Na segunda, consideramos
o percurso inicial da meditação, desde a constatação de um estado interior de
caos, passando pelo mergulho dentro de si, submergindo – sich versenken,
em alemão –, chegando à escuta do que há dentro. Na terceira, abordamos a
tripla fi nalidade da meditação. Ora, em Etty, o conceito de meditação tem uma
defi nição e uma tripla fi nalidade. Meditar é virar-se para dentro, mergulhar em
silêncio, escutando o que se passa no interior. Medita-se para transformar o
matagal interior em uma planície grande e ampla. Medita-se para que cresça
algo de Deus em nós. Medita-se para que cresça em nós um pouco de amor,
com o qual se pode fazer algo no cotidiano.
Resumo
[en] The article investigates the concept of meditation, as it appears in the Diary
of the young Dutch Jew Etty Hillesum (1914-1943), on June 8, 1941. For this,
our text is divided into three parts. In the fi rst, we present some biographical
notes about Etty. In the second part, we consider the initial path of meditation, from the realization of an inner state of chaos, going through the immersion within oneself, submerging – sich versenken, in German –, arriving at listening to what is inside. In the third, we address the triple purpose of meditation. In
Etty, the concept of meditation has a defi nition and a triple purpose. Meditating
is turning inward, submerging in silence, listening to what is going on inside.
Meditate to transform the interior scrub into a large and wide plain. Meditate so
that something of God grows in us. We meditate so that a little love can grow in
us, with which we can do something in our daily lives.
