Resumo
[pt] Neste projeto apresentam-se conceitos relevantes no contexto de comunicações ópticas. São apontados
os principais métodos de monitoramento para fibras ópticas utilizados atualmente, além de
destacar as vantagens de cada um, fazendo uma breve comparação. A partir da análise destes métodos,
são apontados os motivos pelos quais escolheu-se o OTDR por contagem de fótons para fazer
parte do sistema de monitoramento para fibras ópticas desenvolvido. Ademais, retratam-se os resultados
obtidos através da montagem experimental, bem como todo o aperfeiçoamento até chegar
no resultado final.
Resumo
[en] This project presents relevant concepts in the optical communication area. The currently most used
monitoring methods for optical fibers are introduced, highlighting the advantages of each one and
making a brief comparison. The reason for choosing photon-counting OTDR to be part of the developed
optical fibers monitoring system is discussed by analyzing these methods. Moreover, it s
debated the results obtained through the experimental project and all the improvements made to
reach the final result.
