[pt] O presente trabalho tem como objetivo investigar um momento chave na obra do poeta, ensaísta, dramaturgo e romancista irlandês Samuel Barclay Beckett (1906-89), com ênfase em quatro obras em prosa escritas entre 1945 e 1949, a novela Primeiro amor , e a trilogia de romances Molloy , Malone morre , e O inominável . A leitura das obras busca articular três eixos principais: sujeito, linguagem e mundo, acompanhando o processo de radicalização formal operado por Beckett ao longo das obras. Neste universo, o sujeito é despido de qualquer protagonismo, sendo subjugado pelo poder da linguagem, que perde sua dimensão referencial. Assim, a própria narrativa é tensionada, na medida em que falar sobre o mundo , e, também, sobre si se configura como uma tarefa ao mesmo tempo impossível e inevitável. O narrador, figura do sujeito no romance, assume o frágil papel de vítima do fluxo ininterrupto da linguagem autônoma, e o próprio ato de escrita se converte em um subterfúgio que visa adiar o momento derradeiro, onde o narrador deverá finalmente falar sobre si.

[en] The goal of this work is to investigate a key moment in the work of the Irish poet, playwright, essayist, and novelist Samuel Ba rclay Beckett (1906-89), focusing on four works in prose written between 1945 and 1949, the novella First love , and the trilogy of novels Molloy , Malone dies , and The unnamable . The analysis seeks to articulate three main topics: subject, language, and world, accompanying the process of formal radicalization set forth by Beckett. In this universe, the subject is devoid of any agency, being subjugated by the power of language, which in its turn loses any referential power. Thus, narrative it self is questioned, insofar that speaking about the world and about the self becomes both an impossible and inevitable task. The narrator, which figures the subject in the novel, plays the part of a victim in the unstoppable torrent of autonomous language, and the act of writing becomes a mere attempt to escape which seeks to postpone the inevitable moment where he must finally speak about himself.
