[pt] Foi feito um estudo sobre antenas RFID, uma tecnologia que vem se desenvolvendo rapidamente nos últimos anos. Conhecidos os problemas da tecnologia, como o rápido decaimento do sinal e erros de leitura quando muitas tags estão juntas ou em orientações aleatórias, propõe-se o uso de lentes conhecidas como metamateriais para amplificar e focalizar o sinal enviado pela antena transmissora. Tais lentes foram otimizadas para operar na faixa de frequência de RFID (860 MHz – 960 MHz).
Resumo
[en] This work concerns the design of RFID antennas, a technology hastily developed in the last years. The main problems on the current RFID systems rely on two classes: a) the large-signal attenuation (with the distance), and b) the reading errors that occur when many antennas (tags) are spatially close and with inadequate orientation. This work introduces metamaterial lenses for enhancing the transmitting antenna gain and improving the ability to distinguish tags by focalizing the signals. The lenses were optimized for operating in the RFID frequency band of 860 MHz to 960 MHz.
