[pt] O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar aspectos da recepção do Concílio Vaticano II na arquidiocese de São Paulo. Para isto seguiu a seguinte metodologia: apresentar o personagem primeiro da recepção, o cardeal Rossi, o conceito teológico de recepção e as atividades do arcebispo como início da recepção conciliar. Os fatores anteriores ao Concílio e as atividades durante o Vaticano II estão no conjunto das ações para um possível alinhamento pastoral em São Paulo à teologia conciliar. O personagem necessita deste conjunto para o desdobramento de sua ação pastoral. O estudo, ao apresentar esta temática, pretende não somente enriquecer com o conhecimento histórico do passado, mas também oferecer à instituição religiosa no tempo presente uma reflexão sobre a sua ação nos desdobramentos do Concílio no contexto latinoamericano e, mais preciso, paulistano da atualidade.

[en] The purpose of this article is to present aspects of the reception of the Second Vatican Council in the archdiocese of São Paulo. The following methodology was used: to present the fi rst character of the reception, Cardinal Rossi, the theological concept of reception and the activities of the archbishop as the beginning of the conciliar reception. The factors prior to the Council and the activities during Vatican II are the set of actions for a possible pastoral alignment in São Paulo to the conciliar theology. The character needs this set for the unfolding of this pastoral action. The present study, is not only enriching with the historical knowledge of the past, but also offering to the religious institution in the present time a refl ection on its actions in the unfolding of the Council in the Latin American context and, more precisely, of the present-day Paulista.
