[en] Forty years after the celebration of the Puebla conference, we rescued two of its main nuclei: liberation and the preferential option for the poor. We note the tensions that this refl ection entailed and we ask ourselves about the continuity they have had, specifi cally in the pontifi cate of Francisco. Point out the meeting points and the vitality that they contain for the present moment, is the objective of this article.

[es] A 40 años de la celebración de la conferencia de Puebla rescatamos dos de sus principales núcleos: la liberación y la opción preferencial por los pobres. Constatamos las tensiones que supuso esa refl exión y nos preguntamos por la continuidad que han tenido, concretamente en el pontifi cado de Francisco. Señalar los puntos de encuentro y la vitalidad que encierran para el momento presente, es el objetivo de este artículo.
