[pt] O presente estudo teve como objetivo estabelecer uma discussão acerca de um tema bastante presente no pensamento do estrangeiro sobre o Brasil: o carnaval. Ao trabalhar com o ensino de Português como Segunda Língua para Estrangeiros no Brasil, doravante PL2E, o professor se vê em um papel não somente de transmissor de um código linguístico, mas também de difusor das culturas e costumes locais, possibilitando ao aluno diferentes percepções. Atuo como professora de PL2E e aproveitei este contato com estrangeiros de diferentes nacionalidades para estabelecer um diálogo sobre a temática carnaval. Todavia, em vez de conduzir o debate, pedi que os estudantes, de diferentes idades e nacionalidades, fizessem perguntas de acordo com o seu interesse, o que gerou esta pesquisa qualitativa, de cunho exploratório, cujo objetivo foi dissertar sobre esta festividade tão simbólica para a cultura brasileira, porém sob perspectiva do interesse dos estrangeiros. Como base teórica, segui os pressupostos de Michael Byram (2008) acerca de Interculturalidade, além das concepções sobre Identidade abordadas por Zygmunt Bauman (2005). Sergio Cabral (1996) é a principal referência para elucidar as questões sobre o carnaval.

[en] The present research aims to establish a discussion about a very current theme in the thought of the foreigner about Brazil: the carnival. When working with the teaching of Portuguese as a Second Language for Foreigners in Brazil, hereinafter PL2E, the teacher sees himself in a role not only as a transmitter of a linguistic code, but also as a diffuser of local cultures and customs, allowing the student different perceptions. I worked as a PL2E teacher and I took advantage of this contact with foreigners of different nationalities to establish a dialogue on the theme of carnival. However, instead of leading the debate, I asked the students of different ages and nationalities for making questions according to their interest, which generated this exploratory qualitative research which purpose was to lecture on this festivity as a symbol for the Brazilian culture, but under the perspective of the interest of foreigners. As a theoretical basis, I followed Michael Byram s (2008) assumptions about Interculturality, as well as the conceptions on Identity addressed by Zygmunt Bauman (2005). Sergio Cabral (1996) is the main reference to elucidate the questions about the carnival.
