[pt] O presente trabalho tem o objetivo de apresentar uma das mais modernas tecnologias aplicadas ao mapeamento e inspeção de dutos submarinos, os AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles, ou veículos Autônomos Subaquáticos). No desenvolvimento do trabalho, é mostrado o desenvolvimento do veículo autônomo ao longo da história, assim como o funcionamento e comparação dos métodos de mapeamento por AUV e por ROV, bem como a explicação de tais métodos, da inspeção e aquisição dos dados por AUV. Na parte final do trabalho é apresentado e discutido um estudo de caso hipotético no qual uma grande área é mapeada para inspeção preliminar.

[en] This paper has a focus on presenting one of the most modern technologies applied to mapping and inspection of submarine pipelines and equipments, the AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles). During this work, it is shown the development of the technology throughout history, as well as the comparison between the AUV mapping method and the ROV mapping method and the explanation of the mapping method. In the final part of the paper is presented and discussed a hypothetical case study where a large area is mapped for preliminary inspection of underwater equipment.
