[pt] Neste trabalho é focalizada a arte do azulejo, muitas vezes esquecida, mas de grande importância e riqueza, e que representa um valor cultural imenso para o Brasil. Através da pesquisa e análise bibliográfica resgatou-se historicamente a origem dos azulejos, suas técnicas de fabricação e sua chegada ao território nacional através dos colonizadores portugueses. Posteriormente é analisada sua inserção na arquitetura e na arte brasileira, até os dias atuais. Pesquisou-se também as principais características plásticas e dados históricos relevantes, a fim de obter um entendimento abrangente do tema.

[en] This work is focused the art of wall-tile, often overlooked but of great importance and wealth, and that represents an immense cultural value to Brazil. Through research and bibliographical analysis rescued - whether historically the origin of tiles, its manufacturing techniques and their arrival in the national territory through the Portuguese colonists. Is later analyzed its insertion in the architecture and in Brazilian art, to the present day. It was also researched the main plastic characteristics and relevant historical data in order to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the topic.
