[pt] Este trabalho tem por objetivo através dos estudos da Linguística, Antropologia Social e Interculturalismo descrever e investigar a questão estereotipada da impontualidade brasileira, levando em consideração todos os aspectos socioculturais que estão por trás disso. A pesquisa se dá de forma quantitativa por meio de análise das respostas de questionários. Na realidade somos circunstanciais, tudo vai depender do contexto e do grau de flexibilidade que a situação nos impuser. Em certas ocasiões somos até bastante pontuais, em algumas nem tanto. A nossa característica de um povo flexível, amável e tolerante é que nos permite o uso de certas desculpas, aceitáveis ou não, para justificar o nosso atraso. O aprendizado deste aspecto cultural por parte dos alunos de português como segunda língua para estrangeiros provavelmente os ajudará a compreender e entender os nossos atrasos.

[en] The objective of the present work is to describe and investigate the stereotype of Brazilian lack of punctuality through research studies of Linguistics, Social Anthropology and Intercultural issues, bearing in mind all the social and cultural issues as a background. The research was conducted through the analyses of collected answers of personal interviews. In reality we act to the circumstances, and everything will relay to the context and to the degree of flexibility of each situation. In certain occasions we become very time oriented, although, that is not the general rule. Our main characteristic as flexible, tolerant and lovely people allows us to certain excuses, acceptable or not, to justify being late. The learning of this cultural behavior by foreign students of Portuguese as a second language will certainly help them understand our delays.
