[pt] O presente trabalho propõe-se a analisar e descrever o uso do item linguístico agora em situações de uso efetivo no português brasileiro a partir da perspectiva da Linguística Sistêmico-Funcional proposta por Halliday (1994), Halliday & Matthiessen (2004), visto que os estudos apresentados sob o enfoque da tradição gramatical classificam o termo, essencialmente, como um advérbio de tempo, com valor de neste momento. Entretanto, em expressões linguísticas do português brasileiro, tal item sofre ampliação de sentido, não satisfazendo o entendimento do estrangeiro. Busca-se, portanto, através da análise de corpora escritos proveniente do arquivo NILC/São Carlos disponível no site http://www.linguateca.pt/, do trabalho realizado por Fulgêncio (2008) e de diversos sites de notícias e páginas sociais, contribuir com o ensino de português como língua estrangeira, voltado para a descrição das formas e a análise de suas funções.

[en] The present work proposes to analyze and describe the use of the linguistic item now in situations of effective use in brazilian portuguese from the perspective of the Systemic-Functional Linguistics proposed by Halliday (1994), Halliday and Matthiessen (2004), since the studies presented under the focus of grammatical tradition classify the term essentially as an adverb of time, with value at this time. However, in linguistic expressions of the brazilian portuguese, this item suffers an enlargament of meaning, not satisfying the understanding of the foreigner. We seek, therefore, through the analysis of written corpus data from the NILC / São Carlos archive available at http://www.linguateca.pt/, the work carried by Fulgêncio (2008) and several news sites and social pages, to contribute to the teaching of portuguese as a foreign language, turned to description of the forms and the analysis of their functions.
