[pt] O presente artigo focaliza o processo de organização da identidade do filho adotivo a partir das influências socioculturais na formação da identidade do indivíduo; da importância dos fatores biológicos e das experiências afetivas na família na constituição do vínculo de filiação e das peculiaridades do processo na adoção. As reflexões aqui elaboradas vêm ao encontro da idéia de que a revelação da condição adotiva ao filho é um elemento essencial na organização da sua identidade, não obstante redundar num aspecto delicado do processo e envolver sentimentos complexos e de difícil tratamento entre as pessoas diretamente envolvidas.

[en] This article focuses on the process of organizing the identity of the adopted child starting with the socio-cultural influences in the formation of the identity of the individual; of the importance of the biological factors and of the affective experiences in the family in the constitution of the Iinkage in filiation and of the peculiarities in the process of adoption. The reflections developed here catch up with the idea that revealing to the child that he/she was adopted is an essential element in the organization of the child's identity, even though it feeds back into a delicate aspect of the process and involves complex feelings which are difficult lo deal with among the people directly involved.
