[pt] As autoras fazem uma leitura crítica da teoria da Terapia Centrada no Cliente enquanto proposta teórica construída na modernidade, enfocando, nesse percurso crítico, a constituição da Psicologia enquanto ciência. Situando a proposta da teoria da Terapia Centrada no Cliente neste contexto, apresentam uma análise da estrutura epistemológica dos fundamentos teóricos da Terapia Centrada no Cliente. Realizam, também, um estudo crítico de alguns construtos dessa teoria, enfocando os conceitos de Tendência Atualizante e de Angústia. Posteriormente, questionam se os conceitos referidos oferecem subsídios para compreender o mal-estar do homem contemporâneo. Concluem apontando a necessidade de uma outra via de acesso àcondição humana. Ressaltam as possibilidades que a dimensão heideggeriana de angústia apresenta, podendo, assim, favorecer uma melhor aproximação com o mal-estar contemporâneo.

[en] The authors make a critica! reading of the Theory of Client- Centered Therapy as a theoretical proposal founded on today's world. They focus, during this criticar review, on lhe constitution of Psychology as a science. When placing the proposal of the theory of Client-Centered Therapy in tllis context, they present an analysis of the epistemological structure of the theoretical foundations of Client-Centered Therapy. They also undertake a criticar study on some constructs of this theory, and focus on the concepts of Updating Tendency and Anguish. Posteriormente, questionam se os conceitos referidos oferecem subsíos para compreender o mal-estar do homem contemporâneo. They conclude by pointing to the need for another access route to the human condition. They emphasize the possibilities which lhe Heideggerian dimension of anguish presents, which may thus favor a better approach to dealing with lhe contemporary malaise.
