[pt] Trata-se dos resultados de pesquisa sobre o ensino do design têxtil de patchwork quilting relacionado às noções de memória popular e solidariedade, dirigido ao público alvo da Terceira Idade radicados na zona leste da cidade de São Paulo. Como objetivo principal consideramos estudar e compreender a técnica, prática e cultura do patchwork quilt, sob a abordagem decisiva do design têxtil, com vistas à conscientização da importância do trabalho coletivo criador e cidadania. Trabalho realizado na Escola de Artes, Ciências e Humanidades, no programa intitulado Universidade Aberta da Terceira Idade, da Pró Reitoria de Cultura e Extensão da Universidade de São Paulo.

[en] These are the results of a research on the of patchwork quilting textile design teaching related to the notions of popular memory and solidarity, targeted to audience of senior citizens from the Eastern Zone of the city of São Paulo. The research is intended to study and understand of patchwork quilt technique, practice and culture, under the decisive textile design approach, in order to provide awareness on the importance of a creative collective work and citizenship. The present study was conducted at the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities, within the program titled Open University for the Third Age, of the Provosts Office for Extension and Culture of the University of São Paulo.
