[pt] Nas culturas ocidentais assentadas na lógica de redes tecida na internet, presenciamos uma transformação no que tange ao suporte, à técnica de produção textual e às novas possibilidades de receber, apropriar-se e interagir com a textualidade digital que integra diversas linguagens (verbais e não verbais), parecendo contribuir para uma gradual instauração de novas maneiras de ler. Partindo dessa questão, esta tese tem como objetivo principal investigar as práticas de leitura/navegação empreendidas por jovens universitários ao desenvolverem buscas temáticas de cunho acadêmico em sites da internet. Para tanto, o trabalho tem como referência dois tipos de estudo: o que busca compreender as características e dinâmicas socioculturais subjacentes às redes interativas da Internet, pautando-se principalmente em Manuel Castells; o que se dedica à natureza multifacetada do hipertexto, baseando-se em George Landow, Jay Bolter, Ingedore Koch, Luiz Antônio Marcuschi e Antonio Carlos Xavier, entre outros autores. Para completar o estudo teórico, houve necessidade de que se precisasse a conceituação do termo leitura/navegação, recorte necessário para a constituição do foco principal desta pesquisa. Assim sendo, foram realizados estudos apoiados em autores como Stephania Padovani, Leslie Whitaker, Andréa Garavaglia, Taciana Burgos, Séraphin Alava e Lucia Santaella. A partir dessas âncoras teóricas, o trabalho adotou como premissa básica a fusão entre os conceitos de leitura e navegação e baseou-se, sobretudo, nos estudos de Roger Chartier. A pesquisa usou como desenho metodológico uma investigação de caráter qualitativo, tendo como instrumentos de coleta de dados o questionário, a observação, a captura e a gravação do percurso de leitura/navegação e a entrevista empreendida com os universitários, para que fossem atingidos os objetivos propostos. Os dados colhidos a partir dessas estratégias produziram um corpo de conhecimentos sobre as ações de leitura/navegação de uma amostra intencional de 10 jovens universitários, analisadas individualmente, comparadas entre si e confrontadas com as considerações dos autores acima apontados. Como desdobramento dessa análise, alguns estilos e algumas estratégias de leitura/navegação foram identificados, dando a impressão de que estão sendo (re)inventados pelos jovens. Os resultados alcançados mostram que essas estratégias estão muito próximas dos mapas de navegação do pensamento humano, indicando que essa sintonia acentua o uso de práticas socioculturais de leitura diferentes das anteriormente assumidas pelos leitores e reforçando a ideia de que a apropriação da textualidade digital delineia novos modos de ser leitor na contemporaneidade.

[en] In western cultures grounded in the networking logic woven on the internet, one witnesses a transformation in regards to the support, the text production technique and the new possibilities of receiving, appropriating and interacting with the digital textuality which encompasses several languages (verbal and nonverbal), seemingly contributing to a gradual institution of new ways to read. Based on this question, this thesis aims mainly at investigating the readingbrowsing strategies carried out by young university students while performing thematic searches of academic interest on internet sites. To that effect, the work has two kinds of study as reference: one which tries to understand the sociocultural characteristics and dynamics present in interactive networks on the internet, found mainly in Manuel Castells; and one which is dedicated to the multifaceted nature of hypertext, based on George Landow, Jay Bolter, Ingedore Koch, Luiz Antônio Marcuschi and Antonio Carlos Xavier, among others. In order to complete the theoretical study it was necessary to determine the concept of reading-browsing, a necessary concept for establishing the main focus of this research. Thus, studies were conducted based on authors such as Stephania Padovani, Leslie Whitaker, Andréa Garavaglia, Taciana Burgos, Séraphin Alava and Lucia Santaella. Based on this theoretical groundwork, the thesis adopted as its basic premise the merging of the concepts of reading and browsing, anchored mainly on studies by Roger Chartier. The research used as its methodological design a qualitative investigation, while its data-gathering tools were questionnaires, observation, capturing and recording the trajectory of readingbrowsing and interviews conducted with university students, so as to achieve the proposed goals. The data gathered using these strategies produced a body of knowledge on the reading-browsing actions of an intentional sample of 10 young university students, each analyzed individually, compared to the others and confronted with the considerations of the above-mentioned authors. From this analysis it unfolded that some reading-browsing styles and strategies were identified, leaving the impression that they are being re-invented by young people. The results reached show that these strategies are very close to the browsing maps of human thinking, indicating that such attunement emphasizes the use of sociocultural reading practices which are different from those previously held by readers and reinforcing the idea that the appropriation of digital textuality outlines new ways of being a reader in modernity.
