This text aims to socialize the experience of the continuing education of the teaching staff of post-graduate courses at the Catholic University of Pernambuco. This has been consolidated in PRODOCENTE - the Program for Academic Staff Development of the Faculty for Post-Graduate and Extension Studies, and is coordinated by the Department of Education. It especially focuses on the Pedagogic Workshop about Planning Teaching. All of the work has been inspired by the conception of continuing education as a process which aims to open up possibilities for new realizations in personal and professional training, anchored in and mobilized by the life experience and identity of the teacher and viewed as a dialogue between the individual and the whole group. Under this view, the continuing education of these teachers has been understood as a condition of work, as a process which can be made concrete through actions which make it possible to exchange knowledge, to recognize innovations and which also have university teaching experience as the fulcrum. The Pedagogic Workshop about Planning Teaching was constituted as a didactic alternative which involved the following actions: description of the practice of planning as experienced by the participants, explanation and understanding of this practice mediated by studies and drawing up teaching plans. For the teaching staff, what was important was not only discussing the content on planning teaching but putting it into practice. It also served to renew the expectations that, despite an adverse context, teaching which is well planned can make the difference, for most students, and contributes to more significant learning.
