Resumo:
Gas production will continue to increase over the years due to the higher energetic demand around the world. The global tendency is to search for cleaner energies than oil and coal, gas is a great option due to its low cost and low pollution if it compared to oil. Retrograde gas at high pressure and high temperature has only the gas phase. Therefore, during gas production, the pressure around the wellbore drops. If its pressure is below the mixture dewpoint pressure, it will start to have a liquid drop-out. The accumulation of that drop-out around the well will decrease gas effective permeability, resulting in production declining and financial problems. To properly understand the condensate formation and how it affects the relative permeability end points of gas and liquid, experiments were conducted. The experiments were developed using the Pseudo-Steady State Method (PSSM) in two rock samples at high pressure and high temperature. There were 4 experiments, 3 utilizing a sandstone sample and 1 utilizing a carbonate sample. The fluid applied was an ethane/n-pentane mixture at 3 levels of pressure that resulted in 3 drop-out volumes. The results obtained confirm the influence of drop-out, gas flow rate, and sample characteristics on the relative permeability of gas and liquid.
