Resumo:
With the desire to have total control over the production zones within an oil well intelligent completion isolates the different production zones making them completely independent from one another, optimizing the flow and reducing the number of workover operations. One of the main completion elements are the flow control valves, which connect the anular to the production column. Usually these are sliding sleeve valves, in which the movement of the sleeve controls the amount of fluid that flows inside the valve. The valves can be actuated by hydraulic power or electric power, in the first hydraulic tubings come down the column and in the second electric motors located in the valve are used to control the opening. The hydraulic valves are usually On/Off, meaning the flow is either 100 percent or completely closed. The electricity powered valves can stop anywhere in between fully open and fully closed, being only limited by the resolution of the motor used, turning this type of valve extremely interesting to study in the present time. This work analyses the flow of water inside a completion control valve designed by Ouro Negro, who has the patent for the model. Instead of a sliding sleeve concept, the studied valve has a set of axes in which there are spheres with holes to allow fluid flow inside them. These are rotated by individual electric motors located on top of each axis, then controlling the flow. Due to the high flow rates experienced in oil production, estimated to be in 10.000 barrels per day, this case was solved by using the method Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes, which predicts stationary statistics based on transport equations for these.
