This research is marked by the complexity of the relations between education and cultural diversity, an emerging theme in the field of education, specifically in basic education and now entering higher education, with the implementation of socalled affirmative action. Such policies are aimed at overcoming the disadvantages of the black population, women and other discriminated groups, seeking to promote equality among the different groups that compose society. The Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) has been developing since 1994, a project in partnership with several community courses preparing disadvantaged youths for university entrance examinations, specifically the University Entrance Examination Course for Blacks and the Poor (PVNC - Pré- Vestibular para Negros e Carentes), providing full scholarships, in several of its undergraduate courses, for students from these community courses who pass the entrance examination. Of special interest is the undergraduate course in Social Services, with 98% of its students coming from community courses and/or being black. This research project has sought to understand how the experience of this course is configured within the universe of the university, its characteristics, difficulties, conquests and challenges, from the point of view of its diverse actors. Nine professors, one male student and fifteen females students were interviewed.
